ACLU Supporter, from protecting immigrants' rights to defending free speech, the ACLU has held the Trump administration accountable from day one:

* We filed our first lawsuit on day one of President Trump's second term, challenging his executive order attempting to ban birthright citizenship just hours after he signed it. And when the Supreme Court restricted nationwide injunctions, raising the possibility that the unconstitutional policy could partially go into effect, we immediately filed another lawsuit and successfully blocked implementation.

* When reports of horrific conditions and mistreatment emerged from the cruelly dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz" facility, we filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the hundreds of people detained there, demanding immediate access to legal counsel. We've also mobilized hundreds of thousands of supporters to urge their members of Congress to shut down the inhumane facility.

* We sued the administration for illegally detaining students and scholars – and secured release for each of them, in the cases of Mohsen Mahdawi, Rümeysa Öztürk, Dr. Badar Khan Suri, and Mahmoud Khalil. Because the First Amendment and our fundamental right to free speech applies to everyone in this country, regardless of immigration status.

* We filed dozens of Freedom of Information Act requests with multiple government agencies demanding transparency into DOGE's access to and use of our sensitive data. When the government ignored many of our requests, we filed a lawsuit to enforce them.

All of this work is made possible by the generous support of our members – people like you ACLU Supporter, who believe that our democracy is worth defending. But every action we take requires resources, and we rely on the continued support of this community.

So please, will yours be one of the 150 new first-time gifts we need today? <[link removed]>

Thank you,

The ACLU Team
