Team, this fall is shaping up to be one of the most important in recent memory. Now is the time to shore up our efforts and lay the groundwork to defeat the Republican majority next year.
Alongside the Congressional Black Caucus, we’re backing Black candidates in the closest races across the country. But Republicans won’t give up power without a fight, and they’re prepared to spend billions to hold onto their majority.
Like with so many things in this country, Black candidates have to work twice as hard to get half as far as their white counterparts. Reporting has found that Black women candidates receive significantly fewer donations than both white female and male candidates, especially from large and early dollar donors.
And that doesn’t even take into account how many special interest groups are funneling dollars into Republican campaigns.
Yvette Clarke is the ONLY Black woman representing New York in Washington. As Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, she’s brought together moderates and progressives to pass legislation that helps communities of color, low-income families, immigrants, and more.
