Email from Citizens for Traditional Values parents beware View in Browser   My mama's heart was broken when I heard the news about the horrific tragedy that hit yesterday at a Catholic School in Minnesota. Two young lives were snuffed out in a senseless, incomprehensible shooting. The perpetrator not much more than a child himself, lost, broken and deeply confused. Friends, I am compelled to draw more attention to the need for PRAYER for our schools and protection for our children. Please join in gathering for See You At the Pole. Will you join me in praying?   Do You Know As kids return to school - Do you know what your children will be learning? Do you talk to their teachers and support them and ask questions? I received a text message recently from a friend alerting me to some changes in the sex ed curriculum that Grand Rapids Public Schools are now considering. Michigan Schools currently use "Puberty: The Wonder Years" as their sex education curriculum. Among other things, the proposed update includes asking fourth graders to define their gender identity, and sixth graders to understand vaginal and anal sex. Do you know if they are teaching that in YOUR child's curriculum? If so, have you told the school that you do not want them in that class? Parents, These are Your Children Under MI Law and Federal Law you have every right to read the content of all your kid’s curriculum AND that you have an “Opt OUT” option for them. Listen to this powerful message to parents from State Representative Gina Johnsen. My friend’s text was a harsh reminder that parents HAVE to be diligent to not only instill their values in their children but to PROTECT them! If you live in Grand Rapids, I invite you to join me at their next public meeting (see below). If you are not in this region please consider this a reminder to start looking at YOUR local schools' curriculum - and ask questions! You're the parent with all the rights,, you just need to ask. Schools are back in session across the state, teachers are back to the classrooms, and the need for citizens to be informed and engaged is paramount. Here are some news articles we think you would appreciate knowing. Michigan State Board of Education has just chosen who they want as their next Superintendent, replacing Dr. Michael Rice. They have just chosen Dr. Glenn Maleyko, the Superintendent of Dearborn Public Schools. Read his bio here Mackinac Center for Public Policy looks at the data: Michigan schools are not underfunded. Isn't this good news to know! A very unfair Ballot Initiative is underway that is aimed at taxing our "more financially successful citizens" for the possible goal of gaining more education dollars. It provides NO accountability, and hurts our small businesses which are the backbone of our economy! Our friends with the Michigan Catholic Conference have just released this report detailing how Catholic Schools are a benefit to the children of Michigan. While we continue to see public institutions go down dangerous roads, let's remember to celebrate and support these schools that are making additional choices possible for parents.     INSPIRATION CORNER There is a hard working group of men and women in Shiawassee County that are making a huge difference for God and traditional values. We had the honor to join our friends with CTV Shiawassee this past weekend at their 11th annual golf outing fundraiser. Rick Ross and team decided over a decade ago they wanted to do something to make a more positive impact on their local community. They coordinated with us and decide to launch "CTV Shiawassee." This effort has been connecting leaders with resources, training fellow traditional value supporters, helping people get elected and equipping youth with truth! They are making a difference. Thank you Rick and team for your example to all of us and your faithfulness! Contact Rick to find out how you can get more involved!   Will You Join Us in Praying? The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:12, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." We do not have all the answers but God does. Would you join us in praying for Michigan's children? Hop on our special email list as we gather with you to be intentionally praying for our schools and our children in 2025-2026.
