MAGA explodes over Fox News host's gun control comment

Former Republican congressman and current — for now — Fox News talking head Trey Gowdy crossed a very bright, blood-stained, red line yesterday and suggested it might be time for a conversation about gun control in the wake of the latest mass school shooting in Minneapolis. Gowdy, who of course received fistfuls money from the NRA while in office and fought tooth and nail to stymy any sensible gun safety legislation, was predictably castigated and lambasted by MAGA as a traitor for momentarily coming to his senses. Folks, if tar and feathering were still a thing, we're pretty sure the American right would be dragging Trey to the public square for this unforgivable transgression.

Andrew Cuomo gets busted begging Trump for help to sabotage progressive champion Zohran Mamdani

New Yorkers for Lower Costs: Democratic voters overwhelmingly chose Zohran Mamdani to be the next mayor of New York City. But Andrew Cuomo won’t take no for an answer and is now courting Trump donors and even floating cooperation with Trump himself in a desperate attempt to raise a dark money war chest. "Let’s put it this way: I knew the president very well…So I believe there will be opportunities to actually cooperate with him," said Cuomo at a closed-doors fundraiser. Zohran Mamdani already had to overcome $25+ million in outside spending during the primary, and he’s going to need every cent of support we can give him now if he’s going to win in November. Will you chip in to fight back against Trump’s crony billionaires and the corporate interests intent on making sure that Zohran Mamdani never has a chance to hold them accountable? Cops investigate Minneapolis suspect’s disturbing video "manifesto" in aftermath of Catholic school shooting spree that killed two children and injured 17
A "manifesto" believed to belong to the suspect in the Minneapolis Catholic school shooting that left two children dead and more than a dozen injured appears to shed new light on their preparation. Robin Westman, 23, was identified as the assailant who shot through the stained-glass windows at the church adjacent to Annunciation Catholic School at about 8.30 am on Wednesday as pupils were celebrating Mass at the start of the academic year. Two children, aged eight and 10, were shot dead in the pews of the church while 17 others, including 14 children and three parishioners in their 80s, were injured, police said. Two videos recorded by the suspected shooter appear to provide clues into their plan to attack "a large group of kids" and inflict "devastating tragedy." The clips, which police are referring to as Westman’s manifesto, were reportedly timed to be uploaded to coincide with the attack. Westman was found outside the church, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.

CDC erupts in chaos after ousted chief Susan Monarez refuses to resign
The country's top public health agency was plunged into chaos on Wednesday after the Trump regime moved to oust its leader Susan Monarez, sworn in less than a month ago, as her lawyers said she would not resign and that she was being "targeted" for her pro-science stance. Monarez, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), was ousted on Wednesday evening, according to a statement from Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that offered no explanation its decision. "Susan Monarez is no longer director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We thank her for her dedicated service to the American people," HHS said in an unsigned statement posted to social media. Her lawyers pushed back in a statement, saying she had "neither resigned nor received notification" from the White House of her termination.

Trump White House takes credit for Cracker Barrel logo reversal

In these tenuous and truly exceptional times, it's comforting to know the Trump regime is laser focused on the critical issues of the day that clearly matter most to Americans, like...chain restaurant logo rebrandings. Lord Goldemort's goon squad claimed it was the president's Truth Social post lambasting the new logo that helped the famed restaurant chain finally see the light and ditch their woke-ass, anti-racist, gender-bending, homosexual lifestyle-approving new logo and return to their pious, Cracker (next to a) Barrel roots. And to think, there are people out there that still don't think this man deserves the Nobel Peace Prize!

Drowning prevention program comes to a halt at the CDC
We've reached the point in the Trump Circus Shit Show where programs to save little kids' lives are deemed superfluous and wasteful. Drowning kills more than 4,000 people each year in the United States. It's the leading cause of death among children ages 1 to 4 and is one of the top causes of death among children ages 5 to 14. "If this program saved one life, it would be far more than the total cost of the program," says Jim Mercy, former director of the Division of Violence Prevention at the CDC, who retired in 2023. "The irony is that these and other programs [at the CDC] were cut under the motivation of creating greater efficiency." It is so good to be great again.

Greenwashing PR firm for Big Oil hired for crucial global climate conference

Conservation Law Foundation: This summer’s sky-high temperature records, wildfires, and floods have made it terrifyingly clear that the climate crisis is accelerating. We need to take action NOW. Unfortunately, 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) host nation Brazil has hired PR firm Edelman, which has long helped Big Oil greenwash its reputation, as a media consultant. Anyone working on behalf of Big Oil should be nowhere near a conference meant to tackle climate change. We need to make our voices heard in protest. Will you add your name to demand Brazil and COP30 drop Edelman ASAP and put our planet first?

Wow. A proud and mighty titan of 21st-century industry has found itself in total freefall, rife with mismanagement and suffering blow after self-inflicted blow to its once-sterling reputation. Sounds like it might be time for a chainsaw crew to come in and do some wholesale house-cleaning! Just a thought, but they might wanna start at the top.

Jewish talk-show host rips Dem lawmaker for trying to lecture him about Israel, antisemitism
Comedian and talk-show host Adam Friedland tore into Rep. Ritchie Torres during an interview on Wednesday after the congressman attempted to lecture Friedland — a Jewish former resident of Israel — about antisemitism and the Israel-Gaza war. "I think hatred of Jewish people has exploded in this country, and I think it’s because of our support of what looks to be an absolute brutality [in Gaza]," Friedland told Torres. He continued, "I'm telling you as a Jew right now that we are receiving a lot more hate because of what the people with a flag that has a Jewish star on are doing to other people right now, and I’m telling you as a Jewish person how painful it is for us to say, and it hurts my stomach to say — and you’re gonna say, 'I disagree, I disagree' — that this is a genocide, and that hurts to say that a Jew can do that. It hurts because we grew up with learning about what hatred is, we grew up learning about this, and the same year the state of Israel was established, in 1948, the world saw the Holocaust and they established standards for what a genocide is. It was the same year and the world said that this shouldn’t be a thing that happens." Accusing Friedland of being "hostile" and conducting a "gotcha interview," Torres tried to change the topic, stating, "In the South Bronx, people are not talking about Israel. People are talking about how to put food on the table… In my world, people are struggling." Friedland shot back, "Then why, if people are struggling in your world, are you paying $25 billion [to Israel]?" Torres said that amount of money was "minuscule."
