Dear Friend,

U.S. taxpayers gave Gilead Sciences $70 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars to develop the drug Remdesivir. And now that Remdesivir is being used to treat COVID-19, Gilead is raising the price by a whopping 30%.

Americans already pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. Older Americans are the hardest hit by the coronavirus, and these high prices are going to make a bad situation worse.

Drug corporations have no shame. They use their monopoly power every day to set drug prices as high as they want -- and haven’t stopped even during a pandemic.

Congress has to do something.

But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to consider ANY measures to curb the pharmaceutical industry’s monopoly power to set prices and protect patients.

  • Preventing price gouging on drugs developed with taxpayer dollars? BLOCKED.
  • Requiring Medicare to negotiate lower prices? BLOCKED.
It’s shameful. Congress is supposed to work for us, not drug corporations.

It’s never been more clear. Drugs developed with taxpayer dollars must be affordable and available to all who need them.

If enough of us demand action, we can rein in these corporations. Please sign today.

Thanks,
