Folks – those of you who know me well know I’m a numbers guy.
I spent my early career investing in tech startups – and I’ve spent my years in public service finding innovative ways to bring more business and federal investments to the Commonwealth.
So I know a thing or two about following the money. And it’s why I make sure to keep a close eye on our campaign budget and fundraising projections.
When my campaign team told me we’re tracking behind on our August goals – I knew I had to reach out to ask you for help before our end-of-month fundraising deadline. [link removed]
Look, I’ll always be transparent with you.
Our end-of-month deadline is an internal deadline. It’s one my team and I set to make sure we’re on track to meet our monthly expenses and prepare our campaign for what could be a tough and expensive fight next year.
So, candidly, if we miss this deadline, we will be okay. Our fight will continue on as planned.
But the reality is, it will make it harder to stay on track for September, when we close the books on the quarter and file our next public fundraising report. And, if this pattern continues, we will need to look at our budget for next year and decide where to scale back on our planned investments.
So I’m only asking for your help right now because it’s important. Will you donate $5, $10, or whatever makes sense for you ahead of my end-of-month fundraising deadline? Right now we’re not on track to meet our goal, and I’m hoping you can help us turn the month around. [link removed]
Whether or not you donate today, please know you’re a valued member of my team. It’s going to take all of us doing what we can to keep Virginia blue and flip the balance of power in Washington.
The fight continues,
Mark
