A Republican colleague of mine who’s running for governor in South Carolina has already promised to redraw our state’s 6th District if he wins -- because, in his words, I am “not the kind of representation South Carolina needs.”
That would mean our congressional delegation would go from 6–1 to 7–0 Republican, and a state that is nearly 30% Black could be left without a single Black representative in Washington.
I’ve seen this before. I grew up in the Jim Crow South. What Republicans are proposing now isn’t just partisanship -- it’s absolutism. It’s Jim Crow 2.0.
Working for the American people is a privilege and a responsibility I take very seriously. If you’re with me in this fight, John, I’m asking you to chip in today to help us push back against GOP extremists, protect voting rights, and grow our movement to elect Democrats.
