Every morning this summer, our Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® scholars gathered for Harambee—lifting their voices in song, celebrating their heroes, and starting their day with power and purpose.

They spent their days diving into culturally-affirming books, building their confidence as readers, and discovering what it means to lead with justice and joy.

Now, as summer draws to a close, we celebrate nearly 12,000 scholars at almost 200 sites across the country that have held their graduation ceremonies—sending students back to school with new confidence, community, and joy.

Your gift of $150 supports a scholar for a full week of CDF Freedom Schools. A gift of $50, $75, or $100 helps us provide meals, books, and life-changing programming.
