But devastating foreign aid cuts have made it more difficult for families to get what they need to survive these crises. That’s why I’m personally asking for your help. Your gift to our Humanitarian Emergency Relief Appeal will get food, clean water, medical supplies, and urgent care to people around the world whose lives have been upended by disaster. We’ve set a critical fundraising goal of $100,000 by September 30. Will you rush a gift for families caught in crisis right now?
In Gaza, where an international agency has warned that famine is now occurring, over 20,000 children were admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition between April and mid-July, with more than 3,000 severely malnourished. Tragically, at least 16 children under five have died from hunger-related illnesses since July. In Sudan, fighting has forced over 10 million people to flee, and famine is spreading in Northern Darfur and Greater Kordofan. Humanitarian access is severely limited, making the situation even more critical. In Somalia, aid cuts, drought, and displacement are causing acute malnutrition to rise. Over 713,000 people are now expected to face crisis-level hunger. In each of these regions — and in emergency crisis zones worldwide — Mercy Corps is rushing to deliver essential services — food, clean water, hygiene kits to prevent the spread of illness, and cash assistance to help families afford to buy food. You can make a difference by rushing a gift to our Humanitarian Emergency Relief Appeal today. Don’t wait — families around the world are counting on compassionate people like you to provide lifesaving support. Thank you, Whitney Elmer Vice President – Emergency Response Mercy Corps |
