John, it’s Mark Kelly.

On Monday and Tuesday, Trump made public statements about people wanting him to be a dictator. After the last 8 months, it’s all too clear he wants that kind of power for himself.

America is a democracy, not a dictatorship. We were founded on that simple premise. We’ve fought a war for our independence, and we’ve fought wars to protect it.

It’s appalling that the greatest threat to our democracy today is the President of the United States.

He’ll do whatever he can to take power and hold on to it, and so far, my Republican colleagues have been willing to let him do it.

But there is still one thing that gives me hope. That one thing is you, and the millions of other people who still believe in the best of this country and what it can still become. Together, we’re much stronger than Trump could ever be.

That’s what keeps me going. We’ve built a really incredible team over the years, and I’m proud you’re still on it.
