California Supreme Court rejects latest GOP redistricting challenge

Louisiana will no longer defend map in Supreme Court case on VRA future
- Louisiana and Black voters delivered ([link removed] ) opposing briefs to the Supreme Court today, setting the stage for arguments this fall that could determine the future of the VRA and minority political representation.
- Louisiana told the justices it will no longer defend the court-ordered map that added a second majority-Black congressional district. Instead, the state argued that any use of race in redistricting is unconstitutional.

Scoop: DHS to ‘soft launch’ new tool to hunt noncitizens on rolls
- The Trump administration is asking ([link removed] ) states to help "soft launch" a new DHS program that allows states to more easily check voters’ citizenship, Democracy Docket reported exclusively.

Court fines Fulton County, Georgia board after Democrats block appointment of election deniers
- A Georgia judge ruled ([link removed] ) to hold the Fulton County, Georgia Board of Commissioners in civil contempt after two Democrats blocked the appointment of two election deniers to the county election board. The commission board faces a $10,000 daily fine beginning Friday until the appointments are made.
