The Supreme Court just handed down a crucial victory in the fight for reproductive freedom and justice.
In a 5-4 ruling, the justices struck down a law requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a hospital near the clinic where they perform abortions — a completely unnecessary requirement meant to shutter clinic doors.
This is huge and will drastically expand access to life-saving healthcare for all Americans.
Laws like these are often presented as preventative and meant to keep people safe, but they drastically limit access to abortion and give states the power to shut down clinics under these regulations.
Today, we took another important step forward in the fight to protect and expand the right to choose.
The fight for abortion rights has caused clashes in the Supreme Court for decades and is a battleground topic in the 2020 Presidential election. We must continue.
