It's almost here -- the FEC deadline is tomorrow.

This is such a big moment in the election cycle and for our campaign, and it's gotten me to thinking about why I got into public service in the first place.

In 1975, I was in a very serious car accident, and if it wasn't for the dedicated doctors, nurses, and technicians at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, I wouldn't have survived. I asked the founder of the center how I could repay them, and he said the best thing I could do is run for office and fight for the resources they need to continue taking care of Marylanders.

And that's what I did.

And I want to continue that fight after November. If you are able, will you make a contribution before the FEC deadline tomorrow?

After I entered Congress, I fought for funding for the Shock Trauma Center and I haven't stopped fighting since then.

I'm working to protect and expand health care and protections for pre-existing conditions and bring down the cost of prescription drugs.

I'm in this fight to protect the well-being of Marylanders, but I can't do it without you. If you're able to spare a few dollars, it would go a long way toward reaching our FEC fundraising goal.

Your friend,

Dutch
