Dear Redwoods Supporter,
We have a unique opportunity to ensure that California’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) continues to support the restoration of redwood forests, the reduction of wildfire intensity, and the expansion of equitable public access to nature.
Funded by California’s cap-and-trade program, the GGRF helps pay for a wide range of projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the health of our communities, parks, and other public lands. These dollars flow through state agencies to fund forest restoration, stewardship, and resilience across the redwood range to address rising drought and wildfire risks.
Right now, Governor Gavin Newsom and the State Legislature are deciding how billions of GGRF dollars will be spent in the next year. This decision could have far-reaching impacts on whether our vital redwood forests can be protected effectively. California’s budget must prioritize nature-based strategies like forest restoration, extreme wildfire reduction, and equitable access to public lands to benefit people and forests alike.
Send a message today telling California’s leaders to invest GGRF funds into redwood forest health and resilience.
