As we continue to see sweeping changes to immigration enforcement inside the United States, the Trump administration has also begun taking steps to restrict immigration to the United States. Over the past two weeks, the Trump administration announced that it was intending to bring back multiple policies from Trump’s first term that will restrict immigration.

State attorneys general sued the federal government a record 138 times during the first Trump administration and are on pace to reach a new high this second term. Seven months into the current administration, state AGs are utilizing these lawsuits to – among other things – mitigate the impact of federal policies on immigrant communities.

Last week, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals permitted the termination [[link removed]] of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua. The terminations will go into effect September 8.
With this latest round of terminations, tens of thousands of people – many of whom have been in the United States legally for decades – are losing their status.
