The Republican supermajority in Iowa is over, John.

Last night, our candidate Catelin Drey flipped one of the most conservative districts in Iowa and shattered Republicans' unchecked hold on the state Senate. 

This deep-red district that Trump carried by 11 points just a few months ago swung more than 20 points — making this one of the most consequential state legislative flips of the year. 

Catelin, a working mom and community advocate, faced an opponent who embraced the most extreme elements of MAGA ideology. But voters in Senate District 1 rejected Trumpism and chose a leader who stands for everyday Iowans.

This is a turning point for Democrats, John, and it happened because of you. This race was Sister District’s first-ever endorsement in Iowa. And in just three weeks, our incredible community came together to make more than 23,000 calls and raise nearly $18,000 for Catelin’s campaign to help fuel her win.

Catelin’s victory is part of a powerful wave of Democrats winning special elections this year. Every victory is shifting the balance of power in swing states and red states.
