Next Saturday, July 11, is our first public reporting deadline of 2020. This is the biggest chance we have so far to show the strength of our movement to bring proven progressive leadership to the NYC Comptroller’s office.

Before the COVID-19 crisis, we had dozens of in-person grassroots events planned throughout the city. We canceled them and shifted most of our campaign’s resources to address the crisis. That left us with a shortfall of about $30,000.

Thanks to online grassroots supporters like you, we have accounted for almost half that difference! But we still have a ways to go in the next 14 days -- we need to raise $12,000 before the deadline to stay competitive in this high-stakes race.

Of course responding to the COVID-19 crisis, supporting health-care and senior and volunteer and parent and mutual aid and emergency food groups, fighting for relief for essential workers and small businesses and tenants, and over the past few weeks standing up in defense of Black lives have all taken precedence over campaign fundraising! It wasn’t a close call.

But I still have to stay clear-eyed about what it will take to win this crowded race for NYC Comptroller against multiple well-funded opponents -- particularly when they take big checks from lobbyists, wealthy developers, and police unions.

So I need your help to stay in this fight. The challenges of skyrocketing inequality, COVID-19 recovery, systemic racism, and climate change demand bold leadership now -- not later.

All donations from NYC residents up to $250 will be matched 8-to-1 by public financing. And believe it or not, July 11 is the last campaign finance filing before the first public matching funds payment later this year.
