John,
Two days into the school year and students are already barricaded in their classrooms. Instead of a joyful return to classmates and classes, children are under attack.
Students were attending Back to School Mass when they heard the popping of gunshots. Two children were killed and at least 14 others injured after a gunman armed with multiple weapons fired a spray of bullets into the church. Some children remain in critical condition.

John – our kids are not safe and it’s due to the spineless inaction of our lawmakers. As we mourn the loss of even more children to a heinous school shooting we must demand better for our kids. Please, will you send an urgent message to Congress to take action to stop school shootings?

Children should not fear attending school and parents should not be scared that their kids will never come home.
I sent my own kids back to school this week and I felt the terrifying question within me: Will they be safe? As a parent and a gun violence survivor, it’s devastating to witness the constant and deadly reality of gun violence in our schools. Right now, parents are desperately looking for answers and wondering if their children will make it home – it is unacceptable for our lawmakers to offer us anything other than lifesaving action in this moment.

Please, John, in the face of another preventable school shooting, will you demand Congress stop the next school shooting and finally protect our kids? >>

Our hearts are with the victims, survivors, and families in Minneapolis. We will honor them with action and we won’t stop fighting until our kids are finally safe.
