John,
I just wrapped up a call with my finance director, and I wanted to update you all on our campaign's fundraising goal ahead of our critical FEC end-of-quarter deadline tomorrow night.
This is the biggest benchmark of our campaign since former Republican Congressman Scott Taylor was officially named the GOP nominee, and we can't afford to fall short.
We still need 102 grassroots donors to pitch in so that we can send a strong message that we have the support we need to defend this toss-up seat -- can I count on you John?

We defied the odds when we flipped this seat in 2018 -- but it's going to be an entirely different battle now that it's a presidential election year.
Trump's supporters will head to the polls in droves to give him a second term -- and their energy is going to give a huge boost to any down-ballot Republican who's shown they'll be a close ally to the president.
That's why Scott Taylor has done everything he can to cozy up to Trump, going out of his way to defend him at every turn. And his efforts haven't gone unnoticed -- Trump personally tweeted that Scott has his "complete and total endorsement".
Unlike Scott, I'm not running for re-election on anyone else's coattails. In my first year in office, I had five bills passed and signed into law -- the 3rd most bills in the House of Representatives and the most of any freshman member.
I'm focused on getting things done for Coastal Virginians, not climbing my way up the partisan ladder. But now that Trump and national Republicans are uniting behind my GOP opponent, I need your help -- will you chip in to my end-of-quarter fundraising goal to make sure we have the resources to defend this seat?

I'm so grateful to have you on this team,
