John,

The Supreme Court struck down a draconian Louisiana abortion law – a totally unnecessary restriction that would have required doctors who perform abortions in clinics to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. If the law had been upheld, it would have resulted in shutting down two of Louisiana's three remaining providers.

This victory follows years of mobilization and hard work – including an amicus brief I joined with our coalition of 22 Democratic AGs last December – and, at least for now, we can breathe a sigh of relief that Roe v. Wade remains the law of the land.

But our work is not done. As we witnessed in states across the country this spring, opponents of reproductive freedom remain determined, and our nation's federal courts are more hostile to reproductive rights than they've been in decades.

As Attorney General I will defend fundamental reproductive rights against any attack – whether I'm leading the fight to protect Title X funding or joining suits against states' TRAP laws – and I will never stop pressing forward in our fight to ensure everyone has access to quality reproductive care.

We need you on our side in that fight, John.

We need to win this race – and every other race, up and down the ballot so that next year we can focus on expanding reproductive care for all Americans rather than defending against extremist attacks.

We are in this fight together.

Ellen
