Swing Left

Hey Swing Left,

Big news out of the Supreme Court: In a 5-4 decision, the Court struck down a Louisiana law that would severely limit abortion access!

This ruling is a direct blow to Republicans’ anti-choice agenda. Anti-abortion advocates hoped that Trump justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh would help them erode a person's constitutional right to an abortion with this case, but this time, justice prevailed.

But the fight isn’t over—while this law was overturned, countless abortion restrictions remain across the country.

Those restrictions create unequal access to abortion, especially for Black and brown people because of the racialized economic inequality that runs through American society. Patients with the smallest incomes rely on Medicaid which restricts abortion funding in 34 states and DC1, so they are forced to pay for the entire procedure, travel expenses, and other costs out of pocket just to get essential care. We can help expand healthcare access, including reproductive care, to those whose lives depend on it by flipping the Senate.

A Democratic Senate can pass laws to make abortion access safe, reliable, and attainable for everyone, nationwide. Donate to the Senate Fund today—100% of your donation goes to eight Democrats running in the closest Senate races.

This is a great win. Let’s keep them coming.

Thanks,
