Hi, it’s Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia.
Last week, I was proud to be officially sworn in as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee by none other than my dear friend, Vice President Kamala Harris.
As the VP told the crowd at the ceremony, “When Robert Garcia walks the halls of Congress, people pay attention. If not, try to catch up.”
I was honored to hear Vice President Harris say that and to have her backing in the fight to oversee and investigate misconduct in our government – especially with Donald Trump, the most corrupt person to ever serve as president, in office.
While I’m prepared to fight Trump’s corruption every day as Ranking Member on the Oversight Committee, my work will also be about delivering for the American public.
That means building a government based in truth, driven by public service — not by special interests — and powered by strong, respected work that honors all of our union workers and hard-working people who are laboring every single day.
That’s what Kamala Harris fought for as California’s Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and Vice President, and I’m proud to have her back as I continue that fight in Congress.
