We saw good news out of today's SCOTUS decision, but we cannot continue to depend on courts to save reproductive freedom.
Friend —
Reproductive freedom is the foundation of free society, and it's supported by a huge majority in this country. We're glad to see the Supreme Court uphold these principles by striking down the cruel and burdensome TRAP law in question in June v. Russo.
This law was originally passed with the sole intention of closing abortion clinics, and while the three (3!) remaining clinics in Louisiana may be safe from the undue burden of this particular attempt, there are dozens of outstanding examples of anti-choice politicians working to create a legal framework that blocks access and chips away at our constitutional right to an abortion, established by Roe v Wade.

One thing is clear: Today was a close call.
Our reproductive freedom cannot depend on court rulings.

Today we celebrate, but our work isn't finished. This Supreme Court case points to the urgent need to vote for prochoice candidates all the way down the ballot.
Our prochoice nation will not stand for continued attacks on our personal autonomy and right to freely govern our bodies and families.
Together, we're going to win.
In solidarity,
Heidi L. Sieck
