John –

Welcome to the latest edition of Emily’s Notes — updates from Washington’s 6th and Washington, D.C.!

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

• My other home — Congress is on August recess, so I’m home in Bremerton. But I’m disturbed (understatement) at Trump’s military occupation of D.C., where I work and live for half the year. It is terrifying to see active-duty military in the streets of American cities. We have to keep watching and pushing back against this administration’s efforts to pull us into fascism. Here are ways to help D.C. from anywhere in the country → [[link removed]]

• The town hall blitz continues — Thank you to the 200 community members who joined us at last week’s town hall in Tacoma! [[link removed]] . We’ll have town halls in Kingston on August 29, Sequim on September 6, and Elma on September 24. RSVP for all town halls here → [[link removed]]

• The truth about ICE detention — In case you missed it: I visited the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, where ICE is detaining 1,500 people. My priority is ensuring every human being held in my district is treated with respect. Read my report here → [[link removed]]

• Meetings galore! — Since Congress adjourned, I’ve been driving, hiking, and ferrying across the 6th District to meet with constituents. Here are a few highlights: Doing a “hot ones” style interview at the Port Angeles Food Bank, meeting with veterans in Tacoma, seeing the new 300-ton boat lift in Port Townsend, and hiking with members of the Mountaineers and Outdoor Alliance Washington [[link removed]] . I feel beyond lucky to represent this beautiful district.

Now is the part where I ask you for a donation.

I run people-powered campaigns because I want to be accountable to working people. Being at home is a clear reminder: I work for YOU!

Meanwhile, my campaign team is hard at work organizing here in Washington to elect Deb Krishnadasan and other Democrats THIS year and partnering with our adopted swing district to flip Arizona’s 6th NEXT year. Grassroots donations from emails like this one make all that work possible.

But August is one of the toughest months for grassroots fundraising, and right now we’re running about $5,000 behind where we need to be.

I know I can count on Team Emily to step up to any challenge! Can you chip in $6, $26, or any amount to help close the August fundraising gap? [[link removed]]
