There's more work ahead. Can we count on you for the long-haul?

Friend –

The Supreme Court just struck down a law that would have drastically altered the ability of people in Louisiana to access abortion.

In June Medical Services LLC v. Russo, the justices blocked an unjust Louisiana law that required doctors that provide abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, a law that has no medical justification. This ruling is a victory, but make no mistake about it: The right to abortion is far from secure.

Just four years ago, an identical law from Texas was struck down by the Supreme Court. But this time, we were only one vote away from allowing the law to take effect and devastate access to abortion. And anti-abortion politicians are continuing to pass laws pushing abortion access out of reach.

ACLU Supporter, while today is a victory for the people of Louisiana, it shows us how much work we still must do to ensure that everyone who needs an abortion can get one no matter where they live or how much money they have. And we're going to need passionate activists like you with us if we want to remain strong for the long-haul.

Please, as we look to the longer fight ahead, will you deepen your commitment to the ACLU by giving monthly today? <[link removed]>

We have a plan of action and having your reliable support every month <[link removed]> will be critical to achieving it. Most urgently, we're redoubling our efforts to pressure Congress in passing the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) – which will provide a nationwide safeguard against abortion bans and medically unnecessary restrictions like the law in Louisiana.

The WHPA will help fight back against this assault on abortion rights that politicians have been waging state by state. Meanwhile, our attorneys will continue challenging the near-total bans on abortion in states across the country – including the one passed just this month in Tennessee, where, together with our partners, we filed an emergency lawsuit to block a bill passed by the state's legislature that bans abortion from as early as six weeks of pregnancy, before many people know they are pregnant.

And all of this work relies on the foundation of support that dedicated people like you make possible. So please give monthly today as a Guardian of Liberty. <[link removed]>

Today is a victory, but there are far more days ahead in the fight for reproductive freedom – together, we can ensure all of our rights prevail.

Thanks for your support,

Jennifer Dalven
Director of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project

P.S. It's the steadfast resources that supporters like you provide that allows us to achieve our important work – in the fight to protect abortion access and all our civil liberties, from voting rights to racial justice to immigrants' rights. Please, help fuel our efforts: Give monthly today. <[link removed]>
