Greg Casar announces historic re-election bid!

Donald Trump and Greg Abbott pushed through their racist, illegal, gerrymandered maps that merge my district with another Democrat’s. Their goal is clear: to protect Trump from accountability in the next election.

They’re rigging the maps to silence our communities and keep progressive fighters like me out of the People’s House.

They don’t want me in Congress because they don’t want us to be heard. But I have news for them: we’re not going anywhere. I’m going to keep fighting for Austin and working people every single day.

If you don’t know already, let me tell you what I’m fighting for.

I didn’t start my career in a courtroom or the corporate C-suite. I started it here in Austin — on construction sites, organizing alongside workers to win a raise, a union, and the right to a water break.

It’s where I learned the two big lessons that guide my work:

1. When working people stand together — Black, white, Latino, immigrant, and native-born — we win.

2. When you’re taking on big corporations and corrupt politicians, you don’t roll over. You stand up and fight back.

Those lessons took me from the Austin City Council — where we built affordable housing, raised the minimum wage, and saved our local Planned Parenthood — to the halls of Congress.

But you didn’t elect me to learn the broken playbook Democrats have used for decades. You sent me there to write a new one.

So I’m doing things differently.

I’m taking on Trump, his billionaire buddies, and their puppet politicians.

Greg Abbott and Donald Trump want movements like ours out of Congress because they’re scared of what we can achieve.

They think they can silence our city. Take us backwards from the rights our heroes fought for. They don’t want people like me in Congress, because they don’t want people like us to be heard.

But if Abbott and Trump think they can silence us, they’ve got another thing coming.

So, team, I am proud to share that I will be running for re-election. To represent Austin, the city that gave me everything. And I plan to give it my everything too.
