Right now, the House is in recess, which means members of Congress are sent home to meet with community members, discuss the impact of government policy, and help constituents navigate federal agencies.
So while I may not be taking votes on the House floor, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of work to do here in Oregon’s 6th district. On August 14th, I co-hosted a town hall here in OR-06 alongside my friend and colleague Senator Ron Wyden. It was so great to see so many folks from the community and to hear about the challenges that matter most to you, because unlike some politicians, I’m not afraid to face my own constituents in a town hall meeting.
Now that Donald Trump has signed the Big Ugly Bill into law, I’m also holding roundtables with nonprofits, small business owners, and stakeholders across the district to discuss how the Republican cuts to health care and food assistance will impact our community — and what we can do to mitigate the harm GOP policies are causing families across the district.
Look, while Republicans have made it clear that they’ll prioritize shady corporations and billionaires over working people, I'll keep working to help our families and small businesses succeed, and work towards a future where no Oregon families struggle just to put food on the table.
