Dear John,
As summer winds down, it’s the perfect time to refocus on your health. Shifting schedules, seasonal illnesses, and holiday stress can all take a toll, especially for women living with heart disease. The good news is, a few simple steps can help you stay on track.
✔️ Nutrition: Add more fall produce like leafy greens, squash, apples, and beets. These fiber- and antioxidant-rich foods support heart health.
✔️ Screenings: Regular follow-ups with your cardiologist or medical team are vital. Don’t wait until the holidays to try to schedule a checkup. Make sure your blood pressure, cholesterol, and other numbers are under control.
✔️ Vaccines: Talk to your provider about flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccines. Staying up to date is especially important if you’re living with heart disease or other risk factors.
✔️ Support: Stay connected. Join a WomenHeart support group to build community with other women who understand.
✔️ Education: Download resources from our Virtual Red Bag of Courage to access free, trusted information on living well with heart disease.
Every season brings new challenges. Let this one bring renewed commitment to your health.
