I want to cut to the chase, because this is the most important thing that’s happening right now: our Democracy and our constitutional rights are being taken away by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans. Here’s the hard truth: Donald Trump is ignoring the rule of law, catering to his Republican billionaire friends, raising taxes on working families, and leaving millions of people high and dry without health care.

But this is not a moment to walk away, John. It’s time to fight back, and from Gov. Janet Mills suing Trump to protect Maine schoolchildren to Gov. Gavin Newsom challenging Trump on his tariffs that would damage California businesses, Dem govs are proving that it is possible to stand up against Trump – and win.

That’s why I just announced that I’m running for re-election: to serve the people of Illinois – and protect them from Trump’s unconscionable threats – for another four years.

But that’s also why I’m reaching out to you, John: because with 38 governors’ races over the next two years, more on the horizon, and Republicans ramping up their attacks on our constitutional rights every single day, we’re going to need all the reinforcement we can get.
