Hello,
I’m writing from the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) about our
Guatemala Accompaniment Program (GAP). I am pleased to announce that
we are currently seeking our 2026 cohort of accompaniers.
International accompaniment is a movement tool that allows people with passports from the U.S. to leverage their privilege in support of Guatemalan activists, fighting for justice for war crimes committed by the Guatemalan and standing in defense of their land and their right to community self-determination in the face of damaging extractive projects. They are often under grave threat for their work, facing defamation, criminalization, and violent attacks.
Through this work, international accompaniers have a unique opportunity to learn from Guatemalan movements for justice and self-determination.
In a moment where many US communities find themselves under threat, facing militarized police repression, corporate disregard for life, and denial of some communities’ very right to exist, activists in the U.S. have the opportunity to learn from the resilience of Guatemalan communities and movements. At NISGUA, we believe that learning from movements in Guatemala and creating internationalist bonds will increase our strength and resilience in the face of these global threats.
For further information about GAP or to apply, please check the email below with the application details. You can also read
articles written by recent accompaniers. If you have any questions or know of anyone who might be interested in becoming an international accompanier, please feel free to forward this email to them or reach out to us at

In solidarity,
Sarasuadi
