** Staff Picks for 2025 (So Far): Rebekah
------------------------------------------------------------

August 26, 2025

As NPQ takes a break for the summer, we are leaving you with a curation of some of our favorite stories to read and reflect on.

It is no exaggeration to say that this has been a long year, and a break is much needed. For me, one thing that has kept me motivated this year is looking at stories about how people are organizing across the country—and particularly in the South. Today, I’m excited to share some of the stories that have most inspired me—and I hope they will inspire you.

This issue has:
* A Call for Philanthropy ([link removed]) — This piece lays out why it's critical for philanthropic groups to support organizing efforts in the South.

* A Deep Dive ([link removed]) — Workers in the South are organizing and building power. Check out this article to learn more.

* An Interview ([link removed]) — The founder of the Black Mamas Matter Alliance sheds light on the current state of maternal health and the efforts underway to improve maternal health outcomes.

* My Full List of Picks ([link removed]) — My complete list of 2025 selections for more articles that exemplify the powerful organizing work that is being done in the South.

I hope these stories will be helpful to you as we continue the fight ahead.

In solidarity,

Rebekah Barber
