Big wins for Indiana!

Dear friends,

It’s been a busy few weeks across Indiana, and I want to personally share a few updates on the work we’ve been doing together to keep our state moving forward. Here’s what we’ve accomplished lately:

Putting Indiana on the map for film and media

I had the privilege of standing at Huntington University, right in our own community, as the Governor signed Senate Enrolled Act 306 into law. This bill, which I authored, makes Indiana’s film and media production tax credit transferable.

That simple change gives us a major edge in attracting new creative projects to our state, opening doors for local producers, students, and job opportunities in one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.

Exploring smarter ways to manage energy

We need to take a closer look at how we use energy in government buildings. It calls for a feasibility study, due by the end of the year, to explore energy audits at the State Capitol and Government Center. The goal is simple: find ways to be more efficient, save taxpayer dollars, and plan for a more sustainable future.

Unlocking broadband for rural communities

Indiana is preparing to deploy nearly $870 million in federal broadband funding.

It sets a clear process for resolving utility pole access issues between broadband providers and electric companies. This is about making sure every part of our state, especially rural communities, can get connected and stay competitive.

Indiana roads take the top spot nationally

A recent national report ranked Indiana’s roads as the best in the country. That kind of recognition doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of years of planning, investment, and tough decisions.

Better firefighter training, closer to home

Through the Hub and Spoke Firefighter Training Program, the state has invested $7.7 million to bring new training facilities within reach of every department in Indiana. These sites will allow our career and volunteer firefighters to train locally, especially in the rural areas that need support the most.
