This year, only half over, has been painful. But it can also be a turning point — because America is a country on the cusp of change, and we have a choice to make:
What do we want our country to be when we step out on the other side of this pandemic? What future are we creating? Are we repeating past mistakes — or are we rebuilding better?
The House of Representatives is making that choice in a matter of days when voting on a $1.5 trillion plan to invest in America’s infrastructure — creating jobs and rebuilding our economy.
Will you take action today, and make sure they vote for a cleaner, healthier future?
Here’s how this legislation paves the way to a safer climate future:
- It cleans up our transportation system by funding zero-emission buses and a zero-emission postal fleet, putting EV charging infrastructure into place, making roads safer for pedestrians and bicyclists, helping us move towards zero-emission ports, and funding research into sustainable aviation fuels.
- It invests in our clean energy future by setting aside funding to transform our electric grid, builds on tax incentives that promote green tech, and promotes energy efficiency projects.
- And it protects our communities from the impacts of the climate crisis by shoring up our coastlines and rebuilding the natural protections that have been stripped under the pressures of erosion, development, straightjacketed rivers — and now, rising seas.
This legislation will create jobs, spark up our economy, and create a cleaner, healthier future.
And to that end, we’re also supporting an amendment to protect children from lead in their water:
- The amendment provides $22.5 billion over 5 years in critical funding for full lead pipe replacement, prioritizing low-income and environmental justice communities.
More than 9 million homes across America still get their water from lead service lines — lead pipes connecting their home to the drinking water main in the street. Existing programs typically rely on homeowners to pay to have their lead pipe replaced — posing a major equity concern due to the disproportionate risk of lead exposure.
Americans deserve a future safe from the climate crisis and access to clean, safe drinking water.
Take action today to demand that Congress add this important provision to the legislation, and then pass this bill to ensure America rebuilds better.
