Increasingly frequent and severe weather events, like the storm that killed two people and knocked out power for much of Pittsburgh April 29, will have a particularly large impact on river towns and creekside boroughs ([link removed]) that lack the disaster response resources of a big city.
North Versailles property owner Leah Lamonte called a borough official after June floods and was told, “You have to deal with your part of the creek. There’s nothing else we can do ([link removed]) .”
The worsening weather is compounded by funding cuts from the federal government ([link removed]) since President Trump took office in January.
