I’m thinking about what “back to school” really looks like in our Commonwealth.
Friend,
As Pennsylvania families begin a new school year without a state budget, I’m thinking about what “back to school” really looks like in our Commonwealth.
For too many kids, it means classrooms that are overcrowded and underfunded.
For too many parents, it means scrambling to cover rising costs.
For too many teachers, it means digging into their own pockets just to buy supplies. That’s not what public education should look like.
As Democratic Chair of the Senate Education Committee, I’ve been fighting to make sure every child — no matter their zip code — has access to safe, fully funded schools, free school meals, and the resources they need to thrive.
But let’s be honest: I’m up against corporate-backed school privatization lobbyists and politicians who see our schools as line items instead of lifelines.
