Trump just pledged to end mail-in voting and claimed he’ll sign an executive order to ban it nationwide.
And he says he got the idea straight from Vladimir Putin, who told him that: “your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting.”
It’s as outrageous as it is dangerous.
Trump is already rewriting election rules, intimidating officials, and pardoning those who tried to overturn the 2020 election.
And unlike last time, the safeguards that stopped him at the federal level – career civil servants, the Justice Department – are gone.
Make no mistake: the fight for democracy will come down to the Secretaries of State, along with state and local leaders, who run our elections and certify every vote. And like 2020, it will come down to what happens in the courtroom, too.
