Christian College Heralds Yet Another Victory in Years-Long Battle With Federal Government: ‘Unjust’, Supreme Court allows Trump administration to terminate $783 million in NIH grants linked to DEI initiatives, Appeals court lets Trump end TPS for 60,000 immigrants as DHS hails ‘major victory’
Truth Keeps Winning!
Dear John,
Even though the mainstream media won’t tell you, there is good news to report! Judeo/Christian values are winning every day, and biblical truth is prevailing.
Positive things are happening, and here are some stories that will encourage you:
Christian College Heralds Yet Another Victory in Years-Long Battle With Federal Government: ‘Unjust’
Months after the U.S. Department of Education rescinded its historic fine against Grand Canyon University (GCU), a Christian college in Phoenix, Arizona, the school has scored another major victory: a separate lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was also dropped.
The FTC sued GCU in late 2023, alleging the school deceived students about costs associated with doctoral studies and had engaged in what it saw as illegal telemarketing practices. At the time, the FTC said the “university, its marketer, and its CEO deceptively advertised the cost and course requirements of its doctoral programs and its nonprofit status, and made illegal calls to consumers.”
That lawsuit, which originated just months after the Department of Education levied its own defunct fine, is now officially suspended.
Supreme Court Allows Trump Administration To Terminate $783 Million in NIH Grants Linked to Dei Initiatives
By a vote of 5-4, the Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to allow the National Institutes of Health, the largest public funding source for biomedical research in the world, to terminate $783 million in grants linked to DEI initiatives. In a brief unsigned order, the court granted a request from the Trump administration to pause a ruling by a federal judge in Massachusetts that required the federal government to continue making the payments.
Also by a vote of 5-4, the court left in place a different portion of the judge’s ruling, which had thrown out internal NIH guidance documents describing the agency’s policy priorities.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett provided the key vote on each issue. She joined Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh in voting to allow NIH to terminate the grants, but she joined Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson in voting to leave the lower court’s ruling on the guidance documents in place.
Appeals Court Lets Trump End Tps for 60,000 Immigrants as DHS Hails ‘Major Victory’
A federal appeals court in San Francisco handed the Trump administration a legal win by granting an emergency stay that clears the way for ending temporary protected status for about 60,000 immigrants from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal.
The Department of Homeland Security praised the brief order by the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, calling it a validation of President Donald Trump’s broader deportation agenda and a “major victory” in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
“This is yet another huge legal victory for the Trump administration, the rule of law, [and] safety of the American public,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.
