Friends,
Infants in Gaza are dying of malnutrition, and we must do everything in our power to stop it.
For well over two months this spring, the Israeli government blocked all aid from entering Gaza. Since then, Israel and the United States have been distributing aid via the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, whose packages notably exclude baby formula.
With mothers in Gaza too malnourished to breastfeed, this exclusion has meant that parents have been helplessly watching their children starve to death – their tiny bodies wasting away, skin stretched thin over fragile bones.
According to the World Health Organization, 12,000 children under five in Gaza are now acutely malnourished. Each day, leading international aid agencies and humanitarian organizations release more horrifying statistics about the damage of starvation.
That is a damning moral failure.
As Jewish and pro-Israel Americans, we must make it clear that we do not stand for withholding formula from babies. It goes against everything we stand for as Jews and as human beings.
Friends, we need your help. An urgent letter led by Representatives Brittany Pettersen and Ayanna Pressley is circulating in the House calling on Secretary Rubio to use the “full power and authority” of the United States to immediately surge humanitarian aid – especially infant formula – into Gaza.
✍️ Step 1: Sign our petition. Call on lawmakers to support the letter.
After signing, please forward the link to your networks.
📞 Step 2: Call your representative and urge them to take action.
Nothing gets a member’s attention like a call directly to their office.
Today is the last day for Members of Congress to join Reps. Pressley and Pettersen in their leadership by signing on to their letter. We need to mobilize as many signers and callers in the next few hours to make the largest impact possible.
Withholding baby formula from starving babies doesn’t make anyone safer. It’s cruel and inhumane, and it must be stopped.
Thank you for taking action,
Jess Blum
