Hi John,

California has more than 40,000 shovel-ready affordable housing units across the state waiting only on funding to move into construction. The Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026, a combination of bond bills AB 736 (Wicks) and SB 417 (Cabaldon), places a $10 billion bond on next year’s ballot — allowing voters to support the production and preservation of affordable housing for lower-income households.

SB 417 is currently headed to the Senate for a vote and we need your help making sure that our lawmakers understand the importance of supporting affordable housing solutions now!

Show your support for affordable housing solutions by taking the following actions:

✅ Contact Senate Leadership – Call Senate leadership to highlight the importance of passing the housing bond this year and urge them to cosponsor this critical bill.

  • Senate President pro Tem Mike McGuire: (415) 479-6612
  • Senate Majority Leader Lena Gonzalez: (562) 256-7921
  • Senate President pro Tem-Elect Monique Limón: (805) 965-0862

✅ Thank Current Bill Sponsors Contact Senators who have already expressed their support for SB 417. They need to know that we are supporting them by advocating for the bond right now.  Please thank these offices for advancing affordable housing solutions for the greater Bay Area and beyond:

  • Sen. Arreguín: (510) 286-1333
  • Sen. Ashby: (916) 319-0309
  • Sen. Becker: (650) 233-2724
  • Sen. Blakespear: (949) 598-5850
  • Sen. Cabaldon: (707) 551-2389
  • Sen. Grayson: (925) 944-4901
  • Sen. Wiener: (415) 557-1300

This is a critical moment on the path to unlock the funding needed to stabilize the affordable housing pipeline. Let’s work together to ensure all of our neighbors have access to the housing they need.
