In 2026, Michigan will elect a new Governor for the first time in eight years. We have to protect and build on Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s legacy of creating jobs, defending reproductive freedom, and making Michigan a place where all families — not just the ultra-wealthy — can thrive.
But here’s the danger: Not only do we have to defeat the Republican nominee… We also have to defeat Mike Duggan, who is running as an “independent.”
Don’t be fooled. Duggan’s campaign is bankrolled by some of the biggest Republican megadonors in the state. These are the same people who funded Trump’s presidential election and anti-worker politicians like Rick Snyder and Matt Hall.
Former MIGOP Chair and Trump ally Ron Weiser maxed out contributions to Duggan’s campaign. Charter school profiteer JC Huizenga, who pushed Right to Work laws, maxed out to Duggan, too. Even the Karmanos family, who poured hundreds of thousands into Trump’s PACs and the MIGOP, is funding Duggan’s campaign.
Duggan has even praised extremist Speaker Matt Hall, proving he’s more interested in power than Michigan families.
We cannot let Mike Duggan, who is bankrolled by Trump loyalists and MAGA Republicans, steal this election and drag our state backwards.
The Michigan Democratic Party is organizing in all 83 counties to make sure voters know the truth: Democrats are the only party fighting for working families, protecting health care, and putting people over billionaires.
