Mohammad Alatar is leading a team of Palestinian photo journalists who are risking their very lives to document the genocide and systematic destruction of Gaza.
Your contribution will allow them to create a compelling series of photographs for exhibition in the U.S. and a short educational video that you can help us share through your social media.
Despite Israel’s blockade of water, food, and medical supplies, we have a critical chance to support these storytellers. Our goal is to amplify their voices and images, join the global movement to end the blockade, and send life-saving aid to Palestinians.

What Inspired This Collaboration?
Fifteen years ago, I met Mohammad Alatar at an Israeli checkpoint after returning from the West Bank, where I was working at the time. It was dusk when the driver left me off at the Israel-Jordan border. I presented my US passport, and after questioning, the Israeli soldiers refused my entry into Jordan. With no means of communication or transport, I was stranded. I felt powerless, angry, and scared.
A man entered the checkpoint, and once he was cleared, he intervened on my behalf, helping to negotiate my crossing. I am forever grateful for that chance encounter. During our drive to Amman, I learned about his amazing work as a Palestinian human rights activist and documentary filmmaker, and we formed a lasting friendship.
Mohammad and I have kept in touch since. In a recent conversation, we discussed our impotence in the face of this genocide. That conversation inspired this project.
Mohammad's films, which include The Iron Wall (2006), Jerusalem: The East Side Story (2007), and Broken (2018), expose the harsh realities of occupied Palestine and the struggle for self-determination.

Currently residing in the West Bank, Mohammad is working on a film about Israeli settlements. This project is not affiliated with any organization. We are two friends committed to providing urgent support to Palestinians on the ground. We believe that financial assistance is a crucial lifeline for people risking their lives to document the reality of the genocide unfolding before the eyes of the world.

I support access to education, food sovereignty, climate change adaptation, and women's leadership. In 2000, I co-founded the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute. In 2009 and 2010, I worked in Palestine as a Popular Education Trainer and led an International Symposium on Popular Education in Egypt in 2011. More recently, I have participated in the Seed Travels Movement, organizing knowledge exchanges with Non-Indigenous, Maya, and Haudenosaunee communities.)
