Hi John!

August was a busy month for our chapter! This month, SV DSA continued organizing for housing justice by showing up to San Jose City Council meetings to oppose the sweeps at Columbus Park. The chapter delegates returned from the DSA National Convention with experiences and lessons that we'll hear about at our August Chapter Meeting. This Saturday, August 30, from 1 to 3 PM, we'll have our August Chapter Meeting, both in person at SEIU 521 Union Hall and virtually on Zoom. This meeting's agenda includes two resolutions: Supporting Santa Clara County Measure A on the upcoming November ballot and Preventing Unlawful Surveillance of Our Communities by Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR).

Let's put the social back in socialism! Our Last Friday Social on August 29 is a Show & Tell, where our comrades will share something cool, weird, or funny in three minutes or less. This fundraiser will help our delegates recoup the costs of attending the DSA National Convention - a $5-20 sliding scale donation is suggested but not required. Food and drinks will be provided, but you're welcome to bring anything you'd like!

Join us for Socialist Night School on August 27 at 7 PM. This month, we're introducing comrades to Left Theory, from basic vocabulary to the structure behind the left political theory. Learn with us in-person at the SEIU 521 Union Hall or virtually on Zoom.

In a world of low worker consciousness, red-baiting, and extreme political polarization, socialists must become master communicators. Here, you'll learn a framework for holding hard conversations and rehearse scenarios you may encounter as an organizer. We'll be meeting on Sunday, August 31, from 12 to 2 PM at the SEIU 521 Union Hall.
