Dear John:

Congress is still in recess for the month of August, and I continue to travel the Seventh Congressional District and visit with constituents, businesses, and organizations. This week, I spent time in the southern part of the district.

Marshall

At the Marshall Area Chamber, I listened to local business leaders as they shared with me what concerns they have and what pieces of legislation have been helpful to them. A wide range of topics were covered, from legal immigration and visa reform to student loan structures to insurance reforms. Businesses are looking for ways to thrive, and I want to help ensure they can! Thanks, Rep. Chris Swedzinski and Mayor Byrnes, for being part of the discussion!

I met with the interim president of Southwest Minnesota State University, Dr. David Jones, and other staff from the university. Thank you for sharing what some of your upcoming programs are and how we can attract, not only students, to rural Minnesota, but also encourage them to stay and put down roots in our communities.

I stopped at ATZ Manufacturing, the creators of Trackchair. The family-owned business shared its vision for making its equipment available to parks and trail systems so that even more people have the opportunity to experience those beautiful places. I love seeing American-made products right here in our district!

Windom

In Windom, I chatted with local business and community leaders at a Windom Chamber of Commerce roundtable meeting. I am grateful to have local elected officials, Representative Fogelman, Senator Weber, and Mayor Mathis, join me for the conversation. Our discussion centered on the challenges many communities are dealing with, including childcare and housing shortages, the licensing requirements for teachers and healthcare professionals, and the crucial role agriculture and manufacturing play in these communities.

Springfield

Thank you to the city of Springfield for having me and for sharing what is going on in your town. I appreciated hearing about the improvements and investments you are making in your community. I am grateful to have had Representative Torkelson, Senator Dahms, and Mayor Helget join us.

I look forward to taking these ideas back to D.C. as we strive to make common-sense legislation that will help the people of the Seventh District.
