The House Homeland Security Committee will gather early next month to mark up a reauthorization bill for a cybersecurity law just weeks before it’s set to expire at the end of September. House Homeland Security Chair Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) confirmed in a statement to POLITICO that the panel will mark up the 2015 Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act 'shortly after Congress returns from recess in September.' The law — commonly known as CISA 2015 — incentivizes businesses to share cybersecurity threat information with each other and the federal government through legal safeguards like shields from state and federal disclosure laws and federal antitrust exemptions. 'Reauthorizing the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act is essential as the deadline nears and threats evolve,' Garbarino said in a statement on Tuesday. Congress is set to return from the August recess on Sept. 2.

Andrew welcomed members of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association to his Patchogue office. The group thanked Andrew for his leadership in protecting the World Trade Center Health Program and supporting legislation to address the FDNY pension shortfall. Andrew will continue working to ensure first responders have the resources and support they need and deserve.

This week Andrew held meetings in his Patchogue office with representatives from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the UJA Federation of New York. Discussions during the meetings focused on enhancing security, combating antisemitism, and strengthening the U.S.–Israel relationship. Andrew will always stand with our Jewish communities against hate and is committed to maintaining a strong partnership with our friend and ally, Israel.

Andrew’s office recently took part in a clothing donation event at Connetquot High School. The drive collected clothing to support individuals and families in need, demonstrating the community’s strong commitment to helping neighbors. Andrew is proud to support efforts that bring people together to provide relief and assistance to those who need it most.

A veteran reached out to Andrew’s office for assistance in correcting a DD214 from Navy service during the Vietnam War to include omitted decorations. After nearly 13 months and multiple submissions of supporting documents on his behalf, Andrew's casework team was able to ensure the correction was finalized and the service record now properly reflects the earned decorations.

As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Andrew recently led a request to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a briefing on how the agency plans to use funding provided in the recently signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act to secure the homeland. The bill allocates historic resources to complete the border barrier system, rebuild and expand the Customs and Border Protection workforce, and invest in cutting-edge technology to combat threats such as fentanyl trafficking and illegal crossings. With border apprehensions already at record lows, Andrew emphasized the importance of DHS having a clear strategic plan to deploy these resources effectively over the next four years.
