For nearly two years, people in Gaza have lived each day in terror and grief. The health system is in a state of total collapse and basic necessities such as fuel, water, and food are nearly impossible to obtain.
With the unyielding violence driving women and girls from their homes and into overcrowded spaces, basic hygiene supplies have become out of reach for the approximately 690,000 women and girls of menstruating age.
That’s why UNFPA is working tirelessly to make these supplies accessible for all who need them.
We have been on the ground in Gaza since 1986 and from the moment that violence struck in October 2023, we began distributing Dignity Kits. Since then, UNFPA has distributed more than 134,000 Dignity Kits to women and girls throughout the violence-torn region thanks to donors’ gifts.

Dignity Kits being delivered in Gaza

UNFPA workers in Rafah, Gaza distributed 550 Dignity Kits in a single day to women and girls displaced by the violence.
“May God bless you, because this is the first time I have received such a package since the day we were displaced,” said one recipient of a UNFPA Dignity Kit in Rafah.
“All the items in the bag are not available in the first place, and even if they are, their prices are very expensive,” said another.
“All the items in the bag are crucial, and we truly need them,” added a third.
We are heartened to hear from another recipient, “Thank you for your credibility and honesty. You are the first people to come and provide us with something so beneficial.”
Each Dignity Kit costs only $15 to create, but the contents of each kit are priceless to the recipients. So as conflict rages on, will you deliver the gift of dignity to women and girls?
We’re on our way to reaching our goal to mobilize enough support that can provide 2,500 Dignity Kits for the women and girls of Gaza this summer. Make a gift to supply UNFPA Dignity Kits for women and girls in need.
We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and hope for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas, and an end to the violence. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.
Thank you for being there.
