Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken
— A Heartwarming New Children’s Book

Child playing tic-tac-toe with a chicken watching

When eight-year-old Beatrice sees Lillie, a chicken trained to play tic-tac-toe in Chinatown, she worries that a game arcade is not a good place for a chicken to live. She devises a plan: she will challenge the arcade's Big Boss to a game of tic-tac-toe to win Lillie's freedom. Featuring vibrant paintings, Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken shows how children can form deep friendships with animals, stand up for what they believe in and solve tough problems with clever thinking.

Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken is a beautifully illustrated book for children inspired by the true rescue story of Lily the chicken that was originally published in UPC’s Spring/Summer 1998 Poultry Press: The Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken is Free!

Safe at her new home, Lily meets Daisy, a rescued calf.

And from 2010, the story of 16-year-old Whitney Hillman, who also stood up for what she believed in and refused to slaughter her chicken: Why I Took Chicklett and Ran!
