➤➤ Trump is trying to kill vote-by-mail — again — even though he uses it himself
You should know this, John:
Donald Trump has voted by mail multiple times during his time in the White House.
But now, just days after promising Vladimir Putin he’d crack down on “Democrat voting machines” and “rigged mail ballots”, he’s pushing for a new executive order to restrict or outright ban vote-by-mail across the country.
The hypocrisy would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. Not only is he a hypocrite, he’s trying to control a part of our elections he plays no role in at all. He’s spreading lies, creating chaos, and doing everything he can to suppress the vote… again.
And he’s not alone. Republican governors are already floating copycat laws. Right-wing attorneys are filing lawsuits. And Trump’s DOJ is laying the groundwork to pressure states into abandoning vote-by-mail altogether.
That’s where we come in.
Democratic Secretaries of State are some of the only people standing between this authoritarian agenda and free, fair, accessible elections. But they can’t do it without serious grassroots support.
