Dear friend,

It's been an eventful week across the district, with important constituent meetings, reacting to critical international developments, introduction of new legislation, and a special visit to the Nebraska State Fair.

I held a virtual press conference reacting to President Trump’s recent meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. I fully support peace negotiations, but saying ‘Ukraine can have peace tomorrow if they want’ is a statement asking them to submit to Russia’s invasion. We SHOULD negotiate with moral clarity knowing Russia started this war with its ruthless invasion. We CAN’T reward Putin's brutal invasion and war crimes with concessions and awards. If any land is ceded to Russia, we must provide security guarantees to Ukraine to deter future Russian aggression. You can learn more about my remarks here.

On Tuesday, I had a great meeting with Jim Timm from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association to discuss AM Radio in dashboards and the EAS System.

I was also glad to meet with local representatives from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). We discussed several bills they are supporting, including H.R. 3289, which would establish a commission on fiscal responsibility and reform.

On Wednesday, Congressman Eugene Vindman (D-Va.-07) and I introduced the Violent Antisemitism Threat Assessment Act, a bill that would require the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to issue a comprehensive report to Congress on the role of antisemitism in violent extremist movements in the United States. The fight against antisemitism is not a Republican or a Democratic issue, but it’s about being an American. The Violent Antisemitism Threat Assessment Act directs the Executive Branch to provide a comprehensive assessment on the rise of violent antisemitism. The intersection of violent antisemitism and extremist movements presents a clear and present danger. Our Jewish-American friends deserve more than just words, they deserve our unwavering support and active partnership in ensuring their safety and dignity. You can learn about the bipartisan Violent Antisemitism Threat Assessment Act here.

I dropped by Nebraska Public Media to visit their new studios and get a quick interview in. We spoke about the assurances I received from House leadership for funding for local public media.

On Friday, the Nebraska State Fair kicked off with tremendous enthusiasm, highlighting our state's agricultural excellence and innovative spirit! I had the privilege of connecting with numerous community leaders and organizations, including inspiring conversations with our future agricultural leaders from the FFA, dedicated law enforcement from the Omaha Police Department, and advocates from the Nebraska Cattlemen and Nebraska Farm Bureau.

Planning a trip to Washington, D.C.? Join your fellow Nebraskans for Nebraska Breakfast. This time-honored tradition occurs every Wednesday when Congress is in session. RSVP and learn more here.
