🚨 Texas passed their gerrymandered map. But the fight’s not over.

Today is a dark day for our democracy.

In the dead of night, Texas rammed through their extreme gerrymandered map, which Republicans believe will steal five more seats for them in Congress.

Our team's analysis shows that these politicians are stealing power for themselves by taking away the voting power of Texas citizens, and are specifically targeting communities of color.

Let’s be clear: Texas will have to defend this in court. This map is discriminatory – full stop. Our affiliate was already challenging the previous gerrymander and won’t back away from this fight. The federal courts should intervene quickly to protect the rights of Texas voters.

And while egregious and anti-democratic, what happened in Texas has galvanized our grassroots movement to stand up and fight back. That’s important because the fight is expanding, and fast. While the work is underway to stop this map from taking effect, we must also organize to prevent similar power grabs in states like Missouri, Indiana, and beyond.
