Please don’t scroll past this quick read. If you’ve been following the news on Trump’s attempts to rig the 2026 midterms, you know that this is a code red emergency for our democracy.

But we also want you to know this: Democrats are fighting fire with fire.

In Texas, House Democrats just ended a heroic two-week walkout, successfully breaking quorum on Gov. Abbott’s first special session to pass gerrymandered maps that would give Republicans FIVE new congressional seats.

And in California, Gavin Newsom just signed legislation calling for a statewide ballot measure to counter Republicans’ gerrymandering scheme in Texas, both leveling the playing field and letting the people decide their state’s path forward.

This fight to preserve our democracy isn’t going to be easy, but we’re fighting like hell to make sure we win. At the DNC, we’re committed to investing in Democratic parties across the country — including California and Texas — to make sure they have the resources they need to fight the Trump administration and its GOP cronies in the states.
